WE HAVE A PROBLEM:
- Domestic Violence is an epidemic in our nation. Every five years, as many people die from domestic violence as died in the Vietnam War.
- Two out of five females killed in this country die as a result of domestic violence. Fifty percent of all women will receive at least one serious beating from her partner during her lifetime.
- According to the U.S. Surgeon General's Workshop on domestic violence, battering is the single largest cause of injury to women, exceeding rapes, muggings and auto accidents combined.
